180-Gram Vinyl, Analogue Productions

For this early hard bop date, altoist Phil Woods and trumpeter Donald Byrd share co-leader billing. Woods contributes four of the six tunes — including "House of Chan" and "In Walked George" — and consistently takes solo honors, with pianist Al Haig, bassist Teddy Kotick and drummer Charlie Persip offering stimulating accompaniment. AllMusic calls it "an easily recommended release for straight-ahead jazz collectors." Cut from the analogue masters by Kevin Gray.
